GRAND PRAIRIE/MANSFIELD - Bettye Campbell, 94, was welcomed to her heavenly home on Monday, March 19, 2018.
CELERATION OF LIFE: 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, at Blessing Funeral Home in Mansfield with visitation to follow. Interment: 1:15 p.m. Tuesday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. MEMORIALS: Donations may be made to Scottish Rite Children’s Home, Volunteers of America, or a charity of your choice.
Bettye was born Oct. 20, 1923 in Windom, TX, the daughter of Jesse Franklin and Vina Jones Gatlin. She married Therman Campbell on Jan. 24, 1942. She worked as office manager for Dr. P.H. LeBlanc in Grand Prairie and Clark Dental Group in Cedar Hill before retiring. Bettye was a member of the Grand Prairie Eastern Star and had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Grand Prairie for over 70 years. She enjoyed family, traveling, flowers and being outdoors.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Jewell Gatlin, Vela Jackson, Euna Dossey, Glenna Ford, Nadyne Martin Reedy; and brothers Elva Gatlin, Floyd Gatlin, Ollie Gatlin, and Truell Gatlin.
SURVIVORS: Daughters, Cathy and husband, Russ Byrd, Karen and husband, Joe Johnston, and Susan and husband, Ed Bandy; grandchildren, Jamie Marsh, Kimberly Marsh Skidmore, Brian Byrd, Susan Byrd Shinn, Kelly Byrd Sumner, Heather Johnston Wingo, Jason Johnston, Justin Johnston, Shea Bandy Stapleton, Chelsea Bandy Kloss and Garrett Bandy; and 15 great-grandchildren.
