Berniece Eleanor Krause

January 22, 1932 — February 21, 2025

Mansfield, Texas

Berniece Eleanor Krause passed away on February 21, 2025. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was born on January 22, 1932 to Harry and Linda Diener in Macomb County, Michigan. She was baptized soon after, and remained faithful to her Lutheran church.

She met her husband, Chuck, in high school, and attended Michigan State Normal College beginning in 1951. She married Chuck on September 12, 1953 during his senior year at the University of Michigan and was a secretary for a realty company in Ann Arbor through that time. One week before Chuck’s graduation ceremonies in June 1954, he was drafted into the Army. While stationed at Fort Meade, Maryland, she worked as a secretary for Western Electric, whose agents serviced the NIKE missile sites around Washington, D.C. After Chuck’s military discharge in June 1956, they returned to Michigan where they raised three children: Sheri, Mark, and Michael.

They moved to Mansfield, Texas in June of 1980 (the hottest summer ever) and vowed to return to Michigan upon Chuck’s retirement; however, God had other plans. They helped to establish St. John Lutheran Church; beginning at Farr Best Theater and eventually came to where you are today. She enjoyed cards, dominos, puzzles of all kinds, reading, walking, and golf. Most precious to her were Chuck, family, and friends.

She is survived by daughter Sheri Kleopfer of Shelby Township, MI; sons, Mark Krause and wife, Gwynne, of Sioux Falls, SD, and Michael Krause and wife, ReJana, of Colleyville, TX; grandchildren, Emily Kurth and husband, David, of Lake Orion, MI; Sarah Biggers and husband, Rashad, of Thompson’s Station, TN; Nicholas Krause and wife, Anna, of Fenton, MI; Cameron Krause and Timothy Krause of Sioux Falls, SD; and Macie Krause and Cole Krause of Colleyville, TX.
