Berinda Kay Webb

August 12, 1942 — July 5, 2016

Berinda K. Webb, 73, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2016 after a brief battle with an aggressive form of brain cancer. Berinda was born in Lamesa, Texas and after several moves, her family ended up in Richland Hills where she attended Birdville High School. She went on to attend Texas State University (now University of Texas at Arlington) and then got a job at Northeast National Bank where she did bookkeeping for several years. Her next employment would be her last – Trinity Forge.

Berinda retired as a Customer Service Manager at Trinity Forge in Mansfield after 32 years of service. Customers would call on her when they had problems that needed to be resolved. They knew they could always count on her to get to the bottom of the problem and if she didn’t know the solution right away, she would investigate it and get back to them quickly. Her co-workers and supervisors also came to her for assistance. They knew Berinda could look at the big picture as well as the minute details then put together a detailed description or plan on how to proceed or solve any issue. Very bright and eager to assist, Berinda worked hard with any task she was given. Wanting to move closer to her job, Berinda moved to Mansfield, Texas where she lived for the past 28 years.

Berinda is survived by her parents T.C. and Dorothy Mitchell, of Weatherford, Texas, daughter Carrie Dawn Shannon, son Carroll Dean Webb, grandson Julian Elizah Shannon, brother and sister-in-law Bill and Jill Mitchell, nieces and their respective spouse Sandi Mitchell, Misty & Jack Germaine, and Dana & Gregg Barnes along with their children Geoffrey, Tyler and Ben Germaine, and Haley and Hannah Barnes. And, let’s not forget her “best friend”, Cindy (the dog). Cindy was a rescue dog that my mom’s hairdresser found and showed to Berinda one day. Berinda previously had a dog, Layla, but she grew too big for Berinda to handle and she decided to give her to another loving family. After a few months, Berinda realized she missed having a companion and when Cindy came along, it was the right time so she took her in and they’ve been best friends ever since. Berinda’s son, Dean, now has Cindy and has vowed to take good care of her!

Berinda was known for her love of books and family. A regular visitor to the Mansfield Public Library, Berinda loved mysteries and could devour 4 – 5 books within the week and be ready to go back for more. Her love of books, crossword puzzles, and magazines were of great enjoyment and kept her mind sharp. Berinda was also a gifted seamstress and could sew anything in a short amount of time. Her pieces were beautifully done and most of the time the recipient thought it was store bought, it was so meticulously sewn.

Berinda was extremely bright and enthralled with the logistics of anything – from planning a home project to helping her daughter put together IKEA furniture. She learned from her dad early on how to work with her hands, use tools and build things which came in handy since she lived alone for the past 30+ years. She certainly didn’t need a man around the house to help her get things done – she could do it herself!

Berinda’s heart was with her family. Her grandson, Julian, was the joy and absolute light of her life. They spent many hours together over the years and she was very proud of his achievements, especially his recent selection as Drum Major for Birdville High School (Berinda’s Alma Mater). Berinda was ecstatic over that recent honor bestowed on Julian as well as his being selected to attend a computer programming camp at UT Austin this summer. She was so proud of him! Julian and Berinda had a very special relationship that most grandparents don’t get to experience. It was indeed a gift from God.

The family would be honored for you to join them in a Celebration of Life for Berinda. The celebration will be held on July 23, 2016 from 1pm – 4pm at Ensemble Coworking, 1617 Park Place Ave, Ste 110, Fort Worth, TX 76110. There is parking behind the building if the front lot is full.

If you would like to bring a written or typed memory of Berinda, we will have a tribute area where you can post memories. In lieu of flowers, donations in Berinda’s honor can be made to St. Jude, www.stjude.org , or a charity of your choice.

Dawn and Dean would like to thank all of the family and dear friends who have helped with their mother over the past two months and who continue to help during this sad and overwhelming time.

Loving mom, daughter, sister, aunt – your family loves you and will deeply miss you!
