Austin Gavino Medina

January 11, 1995 — November 12, 2020

With deepest sorrow, we announce that Austin Gavino Medina, age 25 our most beloved son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew and friend passed suddenly Thursday November 12, 2020 while at home of natural causes.

Austin was born on January 11, 1995 at Arlington Memorial Hospital to Jesse Jr. and Jennifer. Growing up he and his brother Cody grew up in Arlington and Marble Falls, but ultimately always calling Mansfield, home. During this time Austin would stay with his grandparents on both sides as well as his other two siblings Justin and Tyler. He developed a love for sports (particularly baseball and football) while learning to play the game from his Popo as well as attending annual sports games with his brother’s and Granddaddy Bruce. Around the age of 18 Austin’s love for music grew as he started a YouTube channel by the name”Lil Spook” where he brilliantly wrote, rapped and produced many mixed tapes. Austin also
had a love for Tejano music as that is what he listened to growing up and became a part of who he was.

As Austin continued to grow into a handsome young man he began to develop a love for family BBQ’s and always requested that we make what we like to call Chicken Ala Go-go (chicken legs). Austin loved being around family and friends and learned how to cook what he called a “Man’s Steak” although we always made fun of him as he could never actually finish his steak but he made sure to take the leftovers home for later. Austin loved having friends over listening to music and having good food. If you weren't at the house hanging out then there was a good chance you would be receiving a late night or early morning text or phone call of him telling you exactly what was on his mind at that exact time. With most messages ending with, I Love You. Austin was not without his faults. He faced many battles daily where he would sometimes give in to his vices, but with that being said, he always bounced back to being the kind, loving and giving soul that we all grew to love and know. In fact, even after his death, the family learned Austin continued to give to others by being a donor and helping those in need.

Austin will be missed everyday by his Father Jesse Medina Jr. of Mansfield, his Mother, Jennifer and Step Father Sean Burkett, Brother’s Justin Kaylor, Cody Medina and Tyler Burkett, Step Siblings Joseph and Paris Burkett, all of Arlington. Grandmother Sylvia (NaNa) Medina of
Mansfield, Grandparents Bruce and Lillie (Pat) Kaylor of Arlington, Rick and Marti Burkett of Grand Prairie, Nephews William, Ian and Alex Kaylor of Arlington, Aunt Jana and cousins Aidan and Autumn MacDonald of Arlington, Tia Tricia Medina, Tio Michael, Tia Jessica and cousin
Gabriel Medina, Tio V, Tia Juri and cousins Toria, Yana, Sophie and Julian Medina, Tia Moncula and cousins Isa and Sebastian DeLeon, all of Mansfield along with many more cherished family and friends.

We know in our hearts that Austin is now playing catch, running those bases, cooking out and listening to music with his PoPo Jesse Medina Sr. by his side.
