Alyene Gibson Jordan was 89 years old when she passed away peacefully in Allen, Texas
on May 26, 2024. Alyene was born September 7, 1934 to Alma (Jones) and Lonnie Gibson in
Brady, Texas. Her early years were spent living on the family farm in San Angelo, Texas with
her brother, Lonnie Gibson Jr, and sister, Annie (Gibson) Garner. Alyene went on to be the
Assistant Bookstore Manager at El Centro College and College Store Manager at Eastfield
Junior College for several years. She was loved by her staff and faculty.
Alyene was a devoted wife to Bonny Joe Hatley for 37 years and Bobby Floyd Jordan for
21 years. She was a loving mother to son, Michael Hatley, and step-son, Luther Joe Hatley.
Alyene was an involved member of Mansfield Church of Christ and loved her church
community.
Alyene will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, generosity, and spunkiness.
Despite hardships in her life, she never let anything dampen her spirits. She was steadfast in her
faith and always found comfort within The Lord. Fondly known as “Nana” and “Mema” to her
grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she enjoyed spending time with them and supporting
their many activities.
Alyene was preceded in death by both of her husbands, Bonny Joe Hatley and Bobby
Floyd Jordan, her son, Michael Dean Hatley, her step-son, Luther Joe Hatley, her
daughter-in-law, Linda Cullen Hatley, her parents, Alma and Lonnie Gibson, her brother, Lonnie
Gibson Jr., her sister, Annie (Gibson) Garner and infant great-granddaughter, Brooke Elizabeth
Armijo.
Alyene is survived by her granddaughters, Taylor Hatley and Becky Hatley Armijo and
husband, David Armijo, her great-grandchildren, Patrick along with his wife Samantha, Mason
and Ashlin Armijo, her great-great grandchildren Luca and Logan Armijo, daughter-in-law,
Penny Hatley Vineyard, step-son, Bob Jordan and her nieces, Dixie (Garner) Bennett, Marsha
(Garner) O’Neal, and Brenda Bateman.
Alyene lived a very fruitful life with many layers of family and friends who will miss her
dearly. Her journey earthside is complete, but her days in His glory have just begun.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Mansfield
Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you would make a donation in Alyene’s
