Alfonso Mario Alcas, a retired communications specialist, died unexpectedly on June 25, 2020 at the age of 85 while traveling home to California from Peru.
Alfonso is survived by his wife of 47 years, Irene Nelida, his children, Liliana, Alex, Rossana and Sylvana; his 10 grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew, Zachary, Julianna, Marissa, Corbin, Adam Jr, Colton, Alex and Kaia.
Alfonso was born in Callao, Peru on January 26, 1935. He enlisted in the US Army in 1960, he was a Korean War veteran, Specialist 4th class, 1st Calvary Division. Alfonso was the first in his family to come to the USA looking for great opportunities. He worked at AT&T in San Diego, California as a computer specialist starting in 1980 and retired in 2000.
Alfonso was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. During the last 20 years of his life he enjoyed traveling with his wife and spending time with his grandchildren. Alfonso was a kind, great man, and father figure. He was a selfless man who helped anyone at any moment in time, giving everything of himself without hesitation. He worked extremely hard giving everything he could to his family, he will be greatly missed. Alfonso will eternally remain in the hearts and memories of his family and friends.
