Donna Kay McRee, age 66, devoted wife, mother of three, stepmother of two, grandmother of eight, moved to her heavenly home in the early hours of January 13, 2024. Her youngest daughter held her hand as she took her last breath.
Donna was born on January 28, 1957, in Fort Worth to her late parents, Dempsey Fowler and Connie Marie Doherty.
Donna loved her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, with all her heart, and she loved God’s Word. She used her faith as support for the difficult times in her life. She kept scripture around her home in Mansfield where she loved to work in her yard.
She was a feisty mother who showered her children with love, laughter, and a little bit of fear depending on the day.
Husband of 23 years: Bill McRee, the love of her life and best friend.
Mother of three children: daughter, Ashley Schwengler and husband Blake Schwengler, daughter, Candice Davis and husband Eric Davis, and son Gary Shawn Barker.
Stepmother to two: Michael McRee and Jason McRee.
Grandmother of four: oldest grandson, Coby Davis, twin grandsons, Landon and Riley Staats, and youngest grandson, Connor Davis.
Step-Grandmother to: Tabitha McRee, Jade McRee, Nathan McRee, and Logan McRee.
Brothers and Sisters: James Heffington Sr. and wife Donna Heffington, Ronnie Heffington and wife Janey Heffington, and Mary Canup.
Other family members: numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Donna is preceded in death by grandmothers Jewell Holland, Lilly Fowler, and honorary grandmother, Charlene Juanita DuBois, parents, Dempsey Fowler and Connie Doherty, brothers Jarell Heffington and Charles (Chuck) Fowler, nephew Darrell Ray Canup, and grandson Cason Davis.
Donna’s love for animals generated a house full of dogs, cats, and birds over the years. She enjoyed time with her beloved dogs, especially the late Jay-Jay.
To honor Donna’s wishes, there will be a casual come and go memorial service for family, friends, and acquaintances of Donna McRee to gather in remembrance. Services will be held at:
