John William Trimble

July 24, 1935 — January 8, 2022

John William Trimble, 86, of Dallas, TX, passed away Saturday, January 8, 2022.
He was born in Texarkana, TX on July 24, 1935. John (Dub) graduated from Texarkana High School and received a BA from the University of Corpus Christi and an MBA from Amber University. He was married to Gusteen Shipman Jenkins on November 26, 1983 in Dallas, TX. John had a career in Technical Writing for Northrup Grumman. He was a long-time member of Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for many years.
John, also known as Dub or Poppy, had a passion for his family, especially his grandchildren. One of his favorite things to do was to prepare and serve tea parties to the ladies or the children. He was an incredible handyman and could build or repair just about anything. His biggest project was the restoration of the beautiful Milam House in Glen Rose before moving to the “farm” further out in the country, where he spent many hours in his dream workshop. He loved gardening and worked hard to become a Master Gardener. He had a passion for volunteering and could be found working at his church, at the Fair Park Discovery Garden, the State Fair of Texas, or at Baylor Hospital, where he was a member of the clown corps, bringing hope and cheer to cancer patients undergoing treatment. He loved playing cards on Friday nights with a group of friends who met together faithfully for about 20 years.
He is survived by his wife, Gusteen, sons, John, Jr. and Matthew, daughters Tammy (Trimble) Dunn and husband Alfred, Pam Jenkins Wittkower and husband Robert, Vicki Jenkins Lindsey and husband Mike, and Lisa Jenkins Watson; grandchildren, Aindrea Dunn, Stephen Dunn, Kimberly Gray, Tom Wittkower and wife, Arielle, Lauren Bishop and husband Josh, Jeffrey Lindsey and wife, Kelsey, Will Lindsey, Grant Lindsey, Katie Watson and Maggie Watson, and great-grandchildren, Rhett, Mason, Wyatt and Gus Gray, Emily, Carson and Jackson Wittkower, Layne, Avery and Colby Bishop, and Emma and Michael Lindsey.
Memorials are suggested to Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church Building Fund.
